Virginia Poppe is a New Zealander.

Virginia was taught to sew at a very early age by her grandmother, family and theatrical mother, and debuted with a dolls clothes collection. At the age of eight moved from the doll to design and make her own clothes. Diversified a little with size by designing and creating her horses elaborate Show covers. A family friend was a successful artist and with her younger sister learnt many different crafts and textile applications. Work experience was at Pepper Tree (clothing label) in Auckland. At the age of 18 whilst studying, created a part time business designing and making clothing for a varied client base, continuing for many years in New Zealand and Australia.

Virginia has worked for various designers (both women and mens labels) in New Zealand and Australia and has also modelled. Virginia decided to run a label not only required money, but hands on business experience and has worked for a variety of companies and corporations in many diverse fields. Along with qualifications in marketing and computer programming, various graphic and fashion design, patternmaking, silk and textile painting and craft courses have been obtained, with many hours of experimentation and self study. You can never stop learning.

Silk Attraction

Silk Attraction™ is a boudoir boutique of luxuriously elegant lingerie, sleepwear and outerwear, created from a perfect synergy of the finest silks, cottons and ‘soft on the skin’ European laces.

The label represents the fusion of luxury, discerning style and utmost comfort, to create a real confidence, which lead to our slogan ‘enhancing your inner confidence & beauty ...’. ™ With this in mind, the alluring collections have been created to suit every individual.

Garments are unique, heavenly and glide over the body and are comfortable, wearable quality. Emphasis is not only on the beautiful fabrics, but on a quality fit ensuring an elegant drape, that our customers after many years adore. The collection is designed by Virginia and made in Australia. The label started in the Bridal market then progressed into the general market. Featured in 2004 Mercedes Australian Fashion Week and 2005 Air New Zealand Fashion Week, please view Exposure.

Unfortunately for three years we were engrossed in a situation as a victim with an overseas customer and their fraudulent activity (an experience no one should ever have to endure). Consequently this threw everything into total turmoil, and the ramifications were endured for a further three years on the legal side, not to mention the blatant copycats.

The label has also been exhibited in Dubai and New York. Many garments have been sourced by various stylists for promotions, charity events, commercials, advertising and was sold throughout the world, prior to the GFC.

The collection is ‘silky and luxuriously sexy, to stylish lounging’ ™. Strike a pose or elegantly lounge looking gorgeous, you’ll notice the difference.

The outerwear was created to complement our innerwear, as there is a fine line with some of the garments as it is ‘just too beautiful to be hidden’ ™.

Please enjoy.

BeaYou

BeaYou™ was created after Virginia’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. BeaYou™ is named after Virginia’s mum, Beatrice, known to many as Bea.

After observing the frustration endured whilst trying to source the basics, Virginia decided to create a beautifully feminine range of lingerie and sleepwear and swimwear. The collection is created from natural fibres ensuring stylish comfort and appeal, and made in Australia.

Virginia dedicates this label to her mother and all those affected by the devastating physical and emotional battle of breast cancer.

The BeaYou™ moto is ‘all women should feel good about themselves’ and Virginia hopes her collection makes a difference not only for those affected, but for all women.

A percentage of your garment sale will be donated to breast cancer research.
